TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 7, 6:00 - 8:00 PM...
in the gazebo at Don Davis Park, foot of Olive Street, in Newport.

NOTES
Don't forget the Bucket Drumming class at the Organized Sounds studio in Waldport at 3 p.m. this Thursday - it's a great introduction to music and rhythm concepts and to stick drumming in general You may be amazed at the sound you can get out of a plastic (or metal) bucket! (See complete listing below.)

Here are the first video links - just in-from BURNTWOODSTOCK II, featuring "our own" Gary and Vallorie, aka Clean Slate. They will also be back again this year at the Second Annual Lincoln County Alcohol & Drug Addiction Recovery/Wellbriety Month Recovery/Wellbriety Celebration (along with Rick Bartow & Friends and a Native American youth drumming group) on Saturday September 18, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Yaquina View School, and they will be at Nana' Irish Pub, in Nye Beach, this Saturday, September 11, 8-11 p.m. and Saturday, September 25, 8-11 p.m.. Their recently redesigned website is up at www.bluesic.com with a special page that they have donated to the drum circle, featuring our drumming news and events updates.

Second Saturday Stroll, in Nye Beach, is this Saturday, from noon to about 5:00 p.m. There won't be many more chances to try your hand at busking this year; if you want to drum as a group, let me know and I will try to organize it. (See complete listing below.)

There were more than twenty participants and only two of us yesterday at the Newport Rehab drum event; the new hours and date were set to make it easy for you to attend, as well as for the convenience of the residents: Every first Sunday, 1- 2 p.m.

Charter drum circle member Burgundy Featherkile's GHOUL FROM THE TIDAL POOL --the best and the worst movie ever made in Yachats,Oregon!-- is ending it's remarkable months-long run of free showings at the Yachats Commons with two more presentations, a matinee at 3:00 p.m. on September 19 and a final showing on October 30 at 7:00 p.m.

EVENTS - see the When and Where page!
(And remember, if you have a drumming event, drum circle, or drumming class, send me your information by the second Tuesday of each month and I will pass it along at no charge to our large and rapidly growing mailing list and to key media outlets.)

Tomorrow is another "Nye Beach Stroll" ...As a reminder, these are held the second Saturday of every month through October and feature street performances. I will be drumming with Mark B., our amazing native flute player. We will be set up across the street from Cafe Mundo; Trish will be singing - along with Gus on saxophone later in the afternoon in the same vicinity; and Margo has said that she and Richard plan to be on Coast Street tomorrow playing hammer dulcimer and penny whistle.

The street performances start around noon and are scheduled to go until 5 p.m (although most people quit earlier than that). BRING YOUR DRUM OR YOUR WHATEVER AND COME JOIN US!!!

AFTERWARDS, you can once again enjoy Clean Slate, and delicious pizza, at the Savory Cafe from 6 to 9 p.m.

Newport Drum Circle Goes Hollywood!!

Gary Brooker of Oregon Coast Recording Studio, in Waldport, (and of Clean Slate) will be filming and recording Tuesday, so we need to have all of our best and most attractive drummers on hand. If you fit either of those categories we will expect to see you! (If not, well, you can sit with me.) YouTube today; tomorrow, American Idol!

Two of our drum circle folks were featured on the front page of the News-Times Community section on Friday: Burgundy Featherkile, one of the original members of the Newport Drum Circle and coordinator of the Drift Inn Drum Circle, in Yachats, was recognized in a story on the world premiere of her new film "The Ghoul of the Tidal Pool"; Elizabeth Atly, a currently active member of the drum circle, was recognized for her art showing (photography, fused glass, and mirrors), at the Sylvia Beach Hotel (through May 19). Of course, we had the story on both events, right here, weeks ago....

EVENTS - see the When and Where page!
